Parking at Extracurricular Events at Glenbrook South on October 25
|
On Friday, October 25, Glenbrook South is hosting a large number of events on the campus including the GBS vs. GBN football game, GBS Booster Club tailgate, Fall Play, and other athletic events. Due to the large volume of visitors who are expected, we would like to encourage our families who may be attending these events to carpool to campus that evening. Our hope is that if more visitors can commute together, we won't run out of parking for our guests.
We are asking Football, Tailgate, and Field Hockey attendees to park in the West lot off Robin Lane and our Fall Play and Swimming visitors to park in the North Lot off Hospital Drive and enter the building at Door OO.
Thank you for your partnership to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.

Mission and Visions Statements
As part of a year-long strategic planning process, a dedicated team of students, staff, parents, and community members worked tirelessly to align the community’s aspirations into a comprehensive strategic framework. This framework was approved by the Board of Education in August. Additionally, the team thoughtfully reviewed and updated the district's mission statement, while also crafting a new vision statement to reflect the essence of the strategic framework. Executive Director of Communications, Carol Smith, presented these mission and vision statements to the Board. The finalized statements will be brought back for approval on October 28, 2024.
Recommended Mission Statement: The Glenbrooks nurture a student-centered community with engaging, authentic learning experiences that empower individuals to grow, develop their voice, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Recommended Vision Statement: We inspire each learner to apply their abilities, knowledge, and skills, promoting collaboration, adaptability, and a broader understanding of success to positively impact our community and the world.
The district will launch a strategic planning marketing campaign in the coming months that will be entitled:

Board Policies
The administration presented three policies for consideration. All policies have been reviewed by the Board of Education Policy Committee and will be presented for approval at the meeting on October 28, 2024.
Board Policy 6:235 - Access to Electronic Resources and Technology and Acceptable Use Policy
All school districts have a policy that outlines acceptable and unacceptable uses of electronic resources and technology. The revised policy incorporates existing policy components and addresses liability insurance requirements. Additionally, the policy name has been revised to Access to Electronic Resources and Technology and Acceptable Use Policy, enabling it to be more effectively identified as the district’s “AUP.”
Board Policy 7:345 - Student Data Privacy and Security The only change to this policy is the renumbering to allow it to be moved from the instruction section to the student section of the board policy manual.
Board Policy 7:325 - Student Fundraising Activities Throughout the school year, students participate in fundraising activities to support club/team activities, student travel, and donations to the school (e.g., senior class gifts). A recent review of the Board Policy Manual identified that the Board had yet to adopt a policy defining the procedures and rules governing fundraising activities.

Welcoming the Class of 2029
The district is excited to be welcoming the class of 2029 to our schools in the fall. Plans are underway for their arrival when families will begin enrolling their students in high school. Over the next 10 months, families will navigate a structured enrollment process to prepare for the transition to high school, including completing a pre-registration application and participating in assessments for course placement. The district will provide support and resources throughout this process, ensuring families are informed and prepared to start school in August 2025.
Dr. Ninja Idrizi and members of the educational services team reviewed nine steps that families will follow between now and when school begins in August 2025. the steps may be found in this comprehensive memo and on the Incoming Freshmen page of the school's website.
Families with students who currently attend Glenbrook North and also have an incoming freshman will notice that the process may look a little different than when their older student enrolled as a freshman. The new process is designed to make the enrollment and registration process easier! We will continue to keep families updated in the coming months!
|
On October 17, the district communicated with all families regarding the procedures for initiating either a traditional emergency day or an E-Learning day. While there may be various reasons to implement an E-Learning day, they are most commonly used in cases of inclement weather.
To ensure families have easy access to important information, including expectations for the day and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), the district has created a dedicated E-Learning page on our website.
