Revised Parking Policy Reminder for Students
|
To improve safety and prevent unauthorized parking, the Board of Education has implemented revised parking rules. These regulations will be enforced by the Dean's office starting on January 6, 2025.
Important Guidelines:
|
- Parking Stickers: All staff and authorized student drivers must display a current parking sticker in the designated spot on their vehicle.
- Authorized Parking: Only students with valid parking permits or temporary permits can park in designated student lots during school hours.
- Replacement Stickers: A $25 fee is required for a replacement parking sticker, available from the assistant safety and security manager.
- Designated Parking Areas: Students must park in designated student parking stalls. Overnight parking requires approval from the assistant principal or designee.
- No Staff/Visitor Parking: Students are prohibited from parking in staff or visitor spaces.
- Handicapped and Fire Lane Violations: Unauthorized parking in handicapped spaces (without a state-issued placard) or in fire lanes will result in consequences from the Dean's Office and penalties from local police.
- Parking Over Lines: Students must park within the lines of a single parking space.
|
Consequences for Non-Compliance:
|
- Sticker on the vehicle’s window indicating unauthorized or improper parking.
- Towing or relocation of the vehicle at the owner’s expense.
- Loss of parking privileges and forfeiture of parking fees.
- Additional Deans' Office consequences.
|
All staff members must have a parking permit displayed and a sticker placed on the vehicle’s window while parking on campus to avoid receiving a citation from security. For any questions about the parking permit program, contact the assistant safety and security manager.
Please review the complete Board Policy at 4:171: Traffic and Parking Controls Plan.

We are excited to provide families and students with the opportunity to learn about SchooLinks and the course request process during a three-part webinar series hosted by Mr. Ryan Bretag, Director of Teaching and Learning and Dr. Lara Cummings, Director of Student Support.
This session will focus on courses offered in the Glenbrooks and how to navigate the Course Guide.

In late September, many areas around Asheville, North Carolina, were struck by Helene's storms. Members of the Buncombe County School District specifically lost over 450 homes, schools were shut down, and families lost loved ones. The school district has over 22,000 students and 3,800 staff members. They were lost without any direction of how or when they would be able to return to normality. Being displaced for well over a month, students just recently have been allowed back to school, and staff is doing their best to work with limited supplies, but the high school experience doesn’t look or feel the same.
Our Student Association was able to make a connection with Buncombe County School District and offer our support. We were asked if we could direct our efforts to support Charles D. Owen High School. We continue to learn more about the school and hope we can help support them through the coming months of recovery.
From December 7 through December 14, we ask the Glenbrook North Community to come together and raise as much as we can to help bring Owen High School back to life. Our student leaders have put together a great week for the school and community in hopes of raising over $10,000. One hundred percent of all money raised will go to help with supplies and rebuilding of classrooms. Below are ways we can “show up” to support the Owen Warhorses of Black Mountain, North Carolina.
